We’re back with instalment number three of Alexandra’s journey to the aisle. And this one is particularly special to us as it’s all about ‘THE DRESS! Obviously we’re not going to give away which wedding dress Alexandra has chosen for her big day as you never know who might be reading this (Yousef look away!). However, it was important to us that Alexandra share her experience of wedding dress shopping and specifically her experience with Lisa Rose Bridal. Alexandra – over to you…
It’s May 6th 2017 and after landing at Birmingham airport and having a restful night sleep, it’s Lisa Rose Bridal today, I’m so excited!!!!
As you may remember from my last blog post here, I had planned my first visit to a bridal shop with my mom as I happened to get a weekend layover. I had researched online for bridal shops in Birmingham and various styles of wedding dresses, saving the pictures to Pinterest and so on.
Lisa Rose Bridal really appealed to me – the quaint chapel building, Lisa’s story of her venture into the bridal wear business, and a little peek at the staff on the website, everyone looked so friendly. I read reviews online and they were all so positive about the whole experience at Lisa Rise Bridal. Last but not least the choice of wedding dresses… there were so many that appealed to me! So off we went to Lisa Rose Bridal.
When we arrived and went into The Old Chapel we were approached by Kyla. After introducing herself, she then made us a cup of tea and we sat down to have a chat. Kyla asked me about Yousef and how we met, and we talked about the various wedding dress styles that I had looked at. She did say “try to keep an open mind. Brides often have something set in their mind and then end up with something completely different”.
My mom only asked one thing which was “I know you won’t wear one, but I would love to see you in a princess style wedding dress so would you just try one on?” Ok I said, smiling to myself!
Kyla went off and picked around 10-12 gowns, and off we went into the dressing room. She picked a variety of styles, including the princess ball gown which I tried on first, beautiful, but not for me.
The princess dress was very nice and my mom looked at me and said, “It’s a lovely dress, thank you for trying one on, but no it just isn’t you” we all had a chuckle about it and my mom thanked me for trying it on!
Kyla had chosen a dress with illusion sleeves, which was the style I had loved and everything I had chosen online. I loved it on the hanger, so I was very excited to try it on. Oh… it looked absolutely awful I didn’t like it at all! It just wasn’t for me. Kyla’s words rang in my ears, she certainly knows her brides.
There were fishtail, strapless, with sleeves, straps, and a beautiful Paloma Blanca gown which fitted like a glove and did look stunning but I felt it was too simple for me, not quite what I was looking for.
As I continued to try the dresses on I came to a gown by Sophia Tolli – Palermo, a stunning fishtail gown covered in sparkles absolutely gorgeous and I loved it, so did my mom and Kyla. This was definitely my favourite so far.
After a couple more gowns I put on a Blue by Enzoani gown. Oh my, I didn’t want to take it off!! This is ‘the one’!! It had knocked the Palermo gown off the top of my list.
Kyla then went and looked at the veils and chose two to try on with with the dress. WOW – it completed the experience, it was amazing. I chose an exquisite chapel veil by Joyce Jackson which complimented my dress perfectly.
I could definitely see myself walking down the aisle on my fathers arm to become Mrs Odeh, and I started to cry. I looked at my mom and she had tears in her eyes too. We all loved it. That was it, decision made! What a shock, I am usually so hard to please – something I am always being teased about. But after 2 lovely hours with Kyla in such a warm friendly environment, I had chosen my dream wedding gown.
What a wonderful experience, more than I could have ever dreamt. My very first visit to a bridal shop and I had chosen my dress!
When my father arrived to take us home he asked, did you get a Lisa Rose dress?? When I said yes he couldn’t believe it.
I am so happy with my gown. Thank you Lisa Rose Bridal for such a wonderful, magical experience it was everything a bride to be could want and Kyla is an absolute star.
