Alexandra is back! This month she talks about her inspiration for cakes, venue decor and flowers. Of course she doesn’t want to give too much away, but she has included some of her inspiration, for us to see the kind of thing she’s looking to achieve. As Alexandra’s wedding day draws nearer and her journey to the aisle ever shorter, we are getting more and more excited to see how everything turns out. Over to you Alexandra…
Time is ticking by and I can’t believe that our wedding is only 4 months away. As I have detailed previously we are getting married in Paphos in Cyprus at the Elysium Hotel. So, I do have a wedding planner at the hotel – Elizabeth. I haven’t met her as she joined the hotel team late last year and Liza my original planner handed my details on to Elizabeth. Once the invitations had landed on the guest’s doormats, I looked at my to do list and came to the conclusion that I really needed to focus on the various aspects of the wedding. So, my thoughts were on the day itself.
Firstly, music. Yousef and I have had many discussions around the song choice for our first dance, this is still to be decided, there are so many to choose from!
One decision that has been made is my ‘walk down the aisle choice’ it is something very meaningful and original, and hopefully will be a surprise on the day.
Since Yousef proposed last March, I have researched the internet and in bridal magazines for ideas around flowers and decor for the day. Pinterest has an incredible amount of pictures and ideas for every single thing you could possibly imagine.
I have also purchased some items from Etsy, where you can purchase goods from small businesses, and there are some fantastic and original items on there to make the day even more special and unique.
I compiled my own photo album over the last few months – cakes, table decor, flowers and other items. I have used these to send to Elizabeth and she has then liaised with the hotel florist and pastry chef to discuss my choices and ideas. Elizabeth quickly responded and emailed me saying that the pastry chef was very excited about the cake design, as he has never made one like this before, and he could make an exquisite cake!! I was delighted to get that response and can’t wait to see the cake on the day.
The florist also came back with suggestions regarding my choices for the table decor, centrepieces and so on, which I didn’t feel was quite for what I was trying to achieve. A few days after the initial responses, Elizabeth emailed me to say that she had been thinking a lot about the wedding, and she had sourced another florist who she felt had an even better understanding of the theme I was trying to create. The florist provided photos of her items and suggestions, and I could see that she had definitely understood better what I was trying to achieve, so have decided that she is the best choice to decorate the wedding venue.
So everything for the cake and venue decor has been decided, except for the flowers. I have seen a few pictures of what I would like, but still have to make the final decision. Once I have done so, I will send the photos to my wedding planner so she can liaise with the florist.
Elizabeth has been fantastic, she replies to my emails within a day, and always makes suggestions in regards to my ideas, always ensuring that I am happy with my decisions.
Obviously there is still a lot to decide upon, and hopefully most of the decisions will have been made in time for my next post (and the wedding of course)!!!
Alexandra, your inspiration is so beautiful, we can’t wait to see how your big day comes together – how exciting!
Be sure you lovely ladies check back soon to see the next instalment of Alexandra’s journey to the aisle!
