We meet so many beautiful brides to be here at Lisa Rose bridal boutique. And we love nothing more than seeing their faces once they find ‘the’ wedding dress of their dreams… except that is, hearing from them after the big day with all the details and of course a selection of photographs to swoon over too! ‘Why are we keeping this to ourselves’ we thought? This is the ultimate conclusion to a bride’s journey with us so we decided to shout about them and show them off in all their stunning glory, to you lovely ladies here! First up is…
Naomi & Martyn Cullinane (nee Mytton)
Married Friday 20th May 2016
Why did you choose your gown? Was it everything you dreamed of and more or was it an unexpected choice? What accessories did you choose? Who was your bridal consultant?
Lisa Rose was the first and ONLY bridal shop I went to. I definitely thought I knew what I wanted, I had scoured through endless websites and magazines and felt fully prepared. In my head I was going to pick a white, lacy gown, not too big at the bottom and probably not much of a train. When I arrived with my mom and one of my bridesmaids, I was made to feel so welcome and at ease. I think I was initially a little overwhelmed by the range and choice of dresses!
My bridal consultant asked what I wanted and picked out a range of different dresses for me to try. After trying on what I thought I wanted, I really felt like it did nothing for me, so Sandra picked out Blue by Enzoani ‘Honeyville’, something completely different for me. I didn’t really think it would look very nice on me, it seemed too blingy, much more than I’d really wanted and was an oyster colour and I’d never really thought of going for anything other than white! However, the moment I put it on and stepped out to look in the mirror I knew it was the one! I felt amazing, I felt like a princess. We tried a veil on with it and a hair piece, both I ended up buying too! I didn’t want to take the dress off and I knew my future husband would be blown away. I couldn’t believe it! I loved going to try it on at the fittings, it looked amazing before it fit properly so once it was made to fit me perfectly I couldn’t believe it!
Where did you buy your bridesmaids dresses from and what colour were they?
The bridesmaid dresses were from Little Mistress at Wallis. I had wanted a silver theme throughout the wedding and found these dresses in the sale! The detail on the bridesmaid dresses went perfectly with the detail on my dress.
Our flower girl dresses were from ebay at a bargain £6 each! I knew with the little ones they’d want to run around after and get a bit messy so felt I couldn’t justify spending more than that. I think for that price they still looked absolutely gorgeous!
What did your groom wear and who supplied his and his groomsmens outfits?
The groom and groomsmen wore a three piece royal blue suit from Mark Andrews hire in Coventry. The service we received there was amazing and they really looked after us. Martyn, as the groom, had a patterned silver tie and pocket handkerchief and the groomsmen had plain ones. We also hired the shoes too and got such a good price at £95 per suit!
Who supplied your flowers?
Our flowers were supplied by Stacey Mullins venue styling. She also did all our evening decorations too and was so competitive in her pricing. We didn’t really have many flowers as in the day we only had 27 guests, so were able to sit on one round table.
Who was your photographer and how did you choose them?
Our photographer was the amazing Stuart James. We found him at a wedding fair and fell in love with his work. His brother came along for a couple of hours to shoot the boys getting ready – I wanted that element as it gets missed in most weddings. I wanted to see what they got up to too! He also provided an engagement shoot prior to the wedding and on the day of the wedding he did the photo booth which went down very well! He was so inconspicuous you hardly knew he was there yet he captured the moments you forget! He worked from 10am until 10pm!!
Where did you get married?
Brandon Hall Hotel in Coventry. All the staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us! We highly recommend.
Who were your shoes by?
My shoes were from Debenhams. We were on holiday in Edinburgh and came across them, they only had one set left and they were in my size! It felt like a sign, so I snapped them up. They were a small heel as I’m not very good in anything too high! I did end up with my flats on by the evening though!
Who did your hair and make up?
My hairdresser Kim McCabe did my hair, she is a local hairdresser in Solihull and I went to Primary school with her so I have known her years and the only person I trust completely! She was so professional and calm and was there right up until we left to go to the ceremony! I was recommended Beth Coyle to do my make up. Once again she was so professional and put the girls at ease.
Who supplied your wedding cake?
Martyn’s aunt did the cake for us as a wedding gift. It was amazing and even though it’s not something she does professionally, everybody said how great it looked! I got the cake toppers off someone I found on facebook. If you look closely, the groom has a Coventry FC shirt on and I have a Birmingham City shirt on!
Why did you choose Lisa Rose for your wedding dress?
I read the reviews and heard many good things about Lisa Rose. I also like the fact you have one to one with the consultant. I had looked at the big outlet stores, but while they are cheaper, you don’t get that service that really you do need when picking such an important thing! This is the biggest day of your life and you want to feel special, from the day you walk in the shop to buy it, to the day you walk down the aisle to marry your soul mate. That’s what you get at Lisa Rose!
Any top tips for future Brides shopping for their wedding gown?
Go in with an open mind. Yes you might think you know what you want but try other dresses on, look outside the box, you might be surprised! Also, what looks bad on the hanger might not look bad on you!
All the ladies know their stuff and don’t be embarrassed to say you don’t like something!
Enjoy it! You only do it once!
Naomi, thank you so much for sharing this with us, you looked absolutely beautiful. As did your groom, bridesmaids and grooomsmen. We are so pleased to hear you were happy with the service we provided here at Lisa Rose, it means so much to us to know that our ladies leave us as happy as they could possibly be. We wish you all the love in the world for your future together as Mr & Mrs Cullinane.
