Meet one of the sweetest girls around. Mrs Charlotte Drinkwater . Charlotte has allowed us to share her love story with you all. She is such a sweet girl with a smile that lights up a room. We enjoyed seeing her every time she was in store and after her final fitting we knew she had to be our August Bride of the month. Not only did she look beautiful, her happiness just radiated from her. We could see how excited and in love she was with her husband to be Max, so we wanted to follow her journey to the church and get some more information on her happy day.
Charlotte married her true love on August 12th 2014. She wore a classic Benjamin Roberts A-Line chiffon gown from the 2014 collection. Style 2406 has the most amazing lace detail to the neckline and back. It complimented Charlotte perfectly. Once she walked out the fitting room in this gown she knew it was the one. The fact that her Mom had tears in her eyes confirmed this. We asked Charlotte how it made her feel wearing the gown, she told us, not only was it comfortable and flattering she felt it was a very classic timeless gown. And we totally agree with this statement. Benjamin Roberts never fail to please our Brides. Charlotte teamed this with a cathedral length veil by Joyce Jackson. Aruba complimented her Benjamin Robert’s gown perfectly with a heavy lace trim it made Charlotte look every inch the classic English bride. The look was completed with some lovely shoes that were Ivory lace to match the style of both her veil and gown. These were purchased from online supplier Paradox Pink and named “ Cupcake”
So where did this love story begin?
Charlotte met Max while attending college in Cambridge. With the same interests and both studying The Classics, they hit it off perfectly. After dating for a few years they decided it was time to commit. And wow did Max pass with flying colours when it came to the ring. The breath taking Ceylon Sapphire that sits in a diamond halo setting is just gorgeous. We were so envious of her ring.
The planning then got under way. The venue choice was easy to decide. The last two generations of Drinkwaters have been married at St Mary’s Church in Cheltenham and the thought to carry that tradition on to the third was made. This was then followed by a Reception at The Manor by The Lake also in Cheltenham.
Charlotte and Max chose blue as their colour scheme and added it in very stylishly. The adult bridesmaids were in Navy Lori Lee Maxi dresses supplied by Coast and the the younger maids wore light blue Antonia shorter dresses from Monsoon.
The groom, Ushers, and Fathers all wore Navy Morning suits by Moss Bros and teamed them with light blue waistcoats. The groom wore an Ivory cravat while everyone else had the same blue as their waistcoats.
The flowers were beautiful. Charlottes bouquet of blue and white hydrangeas were a pretty and simple look to match her style perfectly. These were provided by a local Cambridge florist named Margaret Walker. Margaret has dressed the church many times so knows how to create the most exquisite look each time. A stunning floral arch stood at the church entrance as well as the centrepieces for the wedding reception. Each table was decorated with White and Blue hydrangeas, white roses and gypsophillia.
Charlotte and Max decided against having a theme as such, however they are both great fans of the classics and as this is what brought them together in meeting they decided it would be included in their day. They did this by naming their tables after classics such as Virgil and Ovid. As Max is currently training to become a vicar, they both felt it would be a nice touch to put a “ Church “ motif alongside the tables.
Each guest was treated to a yummy favour of caramel and praline macaroon presented in small white boxes wrapped by with blue ribbon. They were then served afternoon tea made up of pastries, scones, sandwiches and cupcakes before the main wedding breakfast. What a lovely idea. Again giving a very Classic English link.
Sticking to tradition Charlotte followed through with the something old, new, borrowed and blue. For “Old” and also “Borrowed” Charlotte wore her mothers diamond earrings, this was very special as its something her mother wears regularly. “Blue” was covered by the absolutely stunning engagement ring she has and “New” was the gorgeous Benjamin Roberts gown Charlotte purchased. Also for her “New” a colleague of Charlottes sent her a silver sixpence to pop in her shoe. This was such a thoughtful moment that was appreciated dearly.
As you can see from the photos the moments have been captured perfectly. Your big day goes so quickly and can become a slight daze so good photography is vital. Mr and Mrs Drinkwaters photos were by Photgrapher Rosie Windsor, who Charlottes mother found at a wedding fair at their reception venue. From all the images taken their favorite picture is the one below. Charlotte feels the colors are really striking and that it shows you how very happy they are.
The happy couple gave their guests an amazing treat for entertainment with two musical acts . An Electrica trio played in the afternoon with their electric string instruments, which guests heard on arrival at the Manor and in the evening a comedy band called Scales of the Unexpected played. Bringing a rousing end to proceedings! Perfect end to a perfect day. The only disappointment to the wedding was that Charlottes poor mom had lost her voice. This was such a shame as Mrs Hall was such a big part in organising the perfect day for her little girl.
After the wedding the new Mr & Mrs Drinkwater jetted off on honeymoon to Vienna. We asked how married life is treating them.
“We are thoroughly enjoying married life! We have moved into a new flat in Cambridge (which is where I work as a teacher and my husband is training) and we have been making it into a proper home for ourselves. I’ve been enjoying practising my new signature for my passport and driving licence!”
Charlotte and max We wish you all the luck on your new journey in life. May you have a long happy marriage. Max we hope you achieve your goal to becoming a vicar soon and Charlotte just stay as happy, beautiful and lovely as you are. Thank you for letting us be apart of your day by providing the gown and sharing your story with us.
