This week we’re featuring another of our beautiful brides – Gemma. Gemma was married to Oliver in September last year, in a gorgeous Blue by Enzoani gown supplied by Lisa Rose Bridal. It sounds like a fabulous day, filled with personal touches and we hope you enjoy reading about it as much as we have. Over to you Gemma!
Gemma & Oliver Dale (nee Foster)
Married Saturday 24th September 2016
Why did you choose your gown? Was it everything you dreamed of and more or was it an unexpected choice? What accessories did you choose? Who was your bridal consultant?
During the run-up to the big day I had always been drawn to a particular type of gown – one that was strapless, lacy, complimented curves and had a beautiful lace trim and modest train. Lisa Rose Bridal did not disappoint and the second dress I tried on met all of my expectations and more!
My chosen gown was designed by Blue by Enzoani “Hamilton” and as soon as my wonderful bridal consultant Kyla customised it with a bejewelled belt around my waist I knew it was the one!! Kyla did the most superb job in helping me choose my dress, she asked me all the right questions on what I had in mind and picked out a small collection of dresses for me to try on. In other boutiques and outlets I had found the experience of shopping for the dress quite an overwhelming and daunting one. Kyla made me feel completely at ease and took away the worries of having to sift through dress after dress on the rails. We complimented the gown with a mid-length veil with subtle sparkle and the final flourish came in the form of a beautifully classic headpiece. Both of which were supplied by Lisa Rose.
The seamstress Sam did the most fantastic, intricate work in tailoring the dress to fit me perfectly, being only 5ft 2 and having seven layers to take up can’t have been an easy task! I would like to use this opportunity to say a big thank you to the girls, especially Kyla, for making the whole experience from initial try on to final fitting, a truly memorable one.
Where did you buy your bridesmaids dresses from and what colour were they?
I was lucky to have five bridesmaids – Steff, Emma, Alex, Jasmine and Amber. The dresses were custom made from the Dessy Collection at Lisa Rose Bridal. They each wore a chiffon gown with a lace over-top, with the adults in bold honeysuckle pink and palomino lace, and the younger two wearing all palomino with an accented pink waist belt. Again, Sam did a wonderful job of the alterations.
What did your groom wear and who supplied his and his groomsmen’s outfits?
The groom wore a slate grey suit with tails coupled with a raspberry (or more affectionately known “high-vis pink”) ruche and silvery waistcoat, all supplied by Young’s at Debenhams. The groomsmen wore pretty much the same, but with a slightly different waistcoat and hankie.
Who supplied your flowers?
The flowers were supplied by Lili Floral Art, a boutique florist based in Tardebigge. We met with the owner Alison on a number of occasions during the run-up to the Wedding, going through every detail from sprays and button holes to dressing the cake and adding floating candles to the water fountain. Not only did Alison arrange the most unusual and eye-catching assortment of flowers for my bouquet and the bridesmaid’s posies, she mirrored the rustic theme on the table settings, with wood boxes, lanterns, moss and autumn leaves. She did a truly remarkable job in designing our wedding day and we can’t thank her enough.
Who was your photographer and how did you choose him/her?
Our photographer was Michelle Brake at Silverstar Photographic. Shel is a very good friend of ours, and wife to Olly’s best man Rich. We were so happy when she offered to photograph our day and we couldn’t have imagined anyone more fitting for the task. She made us feel totally relaxed and captured every part of the day effortlessly. We would highly recommend her service to any soon to be bride and groom.
Who did your hair and make up?
Our hair was done by the lovely Hideaway girls Gemma and Hayley, who are based at the Gate House on the Shipston Road in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Gemma is my usual hairdresser and it would not have been right for anyone else to have done my hair. My make-up artist Claire Harmer, also based in Stratford, came highly recommended by the Hideaway girls. They all came to my house bright and early and did a wonderful job in working around the limited space they had. We were all really pleased with the final result!
Where did you get married?
Olly and I got married at Studley Parish Church at 1pm, and the reception was held at Ingon Manor Golf and Country Club in Snitterfield. Although we are not golfers we both fell in love with the 16th century converted barn with its own minstrel gallery, exposed beams, chandeliers and fairly lights. It went with our rustic theme perfectly! Kate at Classic Bows supplied the loose chair covers and hessian sashes. We didn’t have favours at such, as we donated some money to the Blue Cross animal charity (where we got our treasured Jack Russell Millie from), but we did provide some doggy shaped shortbread biscuits.
Who were your shoes by?
My shoes were a pair of ivory t-bar wedding shoes by “Perfume by Pink for Paradox London” purchased from the online retailer Elegant Steps.
Who supplied your wedding cake?
We bought the cake from M&S, which our florist Alison assembled for us and dressed with the wedding flowers.
Why did you choose Lisa Rose for your wedding gown?
Lisa Rose first caught my eye at the NEC wedding fayre, where I was really impressed with the variety and quality of the gowns; they also looked stunning on the cat walk!! Being fairly local I booked a consultation and did not look back. The converted chapel is a hidden Gem and was a treat to visit time and time again.
Any top tips for future Brides shopping for their wedding gown?
Do your research – go to wedding fayres and view the dresses on the catwalk, seeing the gowns in real women is much more realistic than in the magazines. Also factor in to your budget the cost for alterations and customised pieces, for example waist belts. You can easily add a third of the value of your dress on the extras.
There were so many highlights from the day including being given away by my Mum (of which the girls at Lisa Rose were especially touched by), being presented with our Swarovski crystal champagne flutes by our bridesmaids as we got into the Daimler* as Husband and Wife, finally seeing Olly’s hand-made table plan and hand-carved cake stand that he’d been working tirelessly over in the garage all hours, and walking down our aisle of sparklers to mark the end of the night.

Gemma, thank you so much for allowing us to share your day. You were a wonderful client and we’re delighted that you and Olly had such a fabulous day. Wishing you both all the happiness in the world for your future together as husband and wife.
