This month’s real bride features Jodie and her groom Paul. Jodie came in to Lisa Rose Bridal looking for the perfect dress for her destination wedding on the stunning island of Ibiza in June this year. We were delighted to help her find ‘the one’ and have absolutely loved seeing the gorgeous images from her big day. We hope you will too!
Jodie & Paul Draper (nee Taylor)
Married Friday 12th June 2017
Why did you choose your gown? Was it everything you dreamed of and more or was it an unexpected choice? What accessories did you choose? Who was your bridal consultant?
Choosing my dress was my favourite part of the whole run up to the wedding by far! Before I went, I was nervous about what to expect and about trying on the dresses in front of everyone, but as soon as I came in and met the team I was immediately put at ease. Kyla was assigned as my Bridal Consultant, and she sat me down and went through my do’s and don’ts of what I was looking for. I then went into the changing room, and waited with baited breath whilst Kyla whizzed around the shop collecting a good selection of dresses for me to try on. I quickly realised that what I thought I wanted, was not what I really wanted at all! I tried on around 6 dresses, and each one had parts that I loved and parts that I really didn’t! Just as I was starting to lose hope, along came the Sophia Tolli Rexana gown. It was like everything I loved from the previous dresses put together to make my perfect dress and I instantly knew that this was ‘the one’. Off the hanger I wouldn’t have looked twice at this dress, so all credit must go to Kyla for her knowledge and expertise, she really knew what she was doing and took me on a little journey through the world of wedding dresses to get me to THE dress.
Personally, I wanted all eyes to be on the dress so after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, I decided not to go with a veil or tiara. I opted to keep it simple and went with small flowers placed in my hair, and minimalistic jewellery.
Where did you buy your bridesmaids dresses from and what colour were they?
My bridesmaid’s dresses were made by a label called ‘Fame and Partners’ and were purchased from ASOS. We decided we didn’t want to go with anything too bright and we decided on blush/ light pink dresses.
What did your groom wear and who supplied his and his groomsmen’s outfits?
Paul (the Groom) wore a three piece, consisting of a blue jacket and waistcoat and stone fitted trousers. The groomsmen wore the same but without a jacket. All were purchased and tailored by Reiss in Birmingham.
Who supplied your flowers?
Our flowers were supplied by Ibiza Flower Shop who are part of Ibiza Wedding Shop, the company that we used to plan our wedding (highly recommended!). We went with white for the bridesmaids and my bouquet, the centre pieces, and aisle flowers and we had mini pink bouquets for the flower girls.
Who was your photographer and how did you choose him/her?
Our photographer was Jon Izeta, who is based in Ibiza. He was included in our package with the Wedding Planner that we used.
Who did your hair and make up?
The bridal party, plus my mom and mom-in-law all had our hair and makeup done at Ibiza Beauty Shop, who again are part of our Wedding Planning company. We had exclusive use of their salon for the day which was spacious and cool – perfect for getting ready in.
Where did you get married?
Who were your shoes by?
My shoes were by ASOS Bridal.
Who supplied your wedding cake?
For our wedding cake we had cupcakes, along with a small top tier cake. These were all supplied as part of our package with Ibiza Wedding Shop.
Why did you choose Lisa Rose for your wedding gown?
Lisa Rose was recommended to me by a friend, and having had a quick mooch at their website and Instagram I booked an appointment. This was the first shop that I visited and I knew straight away that I didn’t want to go anywhere else. The shop itself is beautiful and spacious, and the staff really do make it. Everyone that works there is friendly, professional, and knowledgeable.
Is there anything about your day which was particularly special or momentous that you would like to share?
The amazing views from our venue were the reason we chose to get married at Ses Roques. The sunset was so picturesque that it looked like a painting. The wedding was timed so that while we ate our Wedding Breakfast, the sun was setting behind the top table for all the guests to see.
Any top tips for future Brides shopping for their wedding gown?
My top tip would be to have an open mind and don’t dismiss anything. Something that you might not like the look of on the hanger may turn out to be just what you are looking for.
What a stunning setting Jodie, we can absolutely see why you chose this as the place to start your lives as husband and wife. And what a gorgeous group of guys and girls you are! We are so pleased the day went so well for you and loved working with you on getting you the perfect dress for your dream day, Kyla does have a special talent for picking out ‘the one’!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us, wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness together.
