We haven’t featured a real bride interview for a few weeks so we’re really pleased to share this lovely wedding with you today. Ellie wore a stunning Enzoani wedding dress and her wedding photos are just beautiful. It looks like her and her new husband Elliot had a fabulous day.
If any of our other brides are reading this and would like to be featured on the blog – get in touch! We love seeing how your day turned out and how stunning you looked in your Lisa Rose wedding dress. Anyway, without further ado, I’ll pass you over to Ellie!
Ellie & Elliot Parkes (nee Springer)
Married Friday 7th April 2017
Why did you choose your gown? Was it everything you dreamed of and more or was it an unexpected choice? What accessories did you choose? Who was your bridal consultant?
I saw the dress the second I walked in the shop as it was on display on one of the mannequins. I knew I always wanted lace but didn’t want to look too old fashioned so I felt the embellishment and lace detail on the back of the dress kept it younger. My Enzoani wedding dress was better than I ever imagined and was the most perfect dress in my eyes. It was very figure hugging which surprised me a little as I never thought I’d be brave enough to go for something so close fitting as I’ve always been a bit self conscious about my tummy and hips, but I felt the structure of the dress kept me “held in” and made me feel more confident. I had a matching veil – Vienna by Joyce Jackson, as I knew I always wanted a veil… You only get to wear a veil once after all and I wanted to look as bridal as possible!
Because there was so much detail on the dress and veil I didn’t really have many accessories, I just wore my old Tiffany pearl earrings and bracelet – which was my something old as tradition goes. Kyla was my bridal consultant and she honestly made the whole experience perfect. I’d been to a few bridal shops in Birmingham before coming to Lisa Rose Bridal and had had some bad experiences, she is such an asset to the Lisa Rose Bridal team! She took the time talking to me initially and getting to know a little bit about me as a person, she asked for my preferences and then helped me pick the gowns I was imagining. What was brilliant though is she also threw a few “wild cards” in there which really got me thinking about different styles and silhouettes. With each gown we would add accessories and shoes and talk about hair and make up so it wasn’t just about the dress but more the overall look which was so helpful. With the dresses if there were parts of some dresses I liked she said we could mix and match and make my own personalised dress which was incredible and something I didn’t even think was possible!
Where did you buy your bridesmaids dresses from and what colour were they?
My bridesmaid dresses were also from Lisa Rose Bridal: Dessy, 2946 in Taupe and Oyster. They were a soft grey with a sparkly under lining and so beautiful and flattering on both my bridesmaids (I was a little bit jealous, I wanted to wear that dress too haha!). When it came to alterations the incredible seamstress Sam was able to fit the dress perfectly to them both and even adjust the neck line for my sister. I chose my sister and Elliot’s sister as my bridesmaids, we kept the ceremony very small with just close family and friends so there wouldn’t be any one else I could have imagined by my side!
What did your groom wear and who supplied his and his groomsmen’s outfits?
Elliot, my dad and Elliot’s dad were in the Groom’s party and all hired their suits from The Wedding Barn in Leamington Spa – I couldn’t recommend this place enough. So much choice, brilliant service and reasonably priced too! Elliot always knew what he wanted to wear and chose a grey suit, mint green tie and tweed waistcoat to fit in with the rustic theme of our barn wedding. The dad’s wore the same but had grey ties instead of mint. I know he’s my husband and I’m biased but Elliot looked so handsome! I’m used to him wearing his work clothes and coming home covered in dirt and oil from his job as an F1 mechanic for Haas so seeing him all suited and booted was so special!
Who supplied your flowers?
Jenny Fleur supplied our flowers. To keep cost down she kindly supplied us with buckets of mixed flowers and we arranged the centre pieces and mason jars with flowers ourselves the day before. She made the button holes and bouquets and as I’m not very green fingered and don’t know much about flowers I just told her a little bit about our colour scheme, venue and theme and she did all the hard work!
Who was your photographer and how did you choose him/her?
Choosing a photographer was probably one of the hardest parts of wedding planning. Your photos are your memories so I was so keen to pick a photographer that I loved! I eventually chose James Butroid – Ethos Photographics as I adored his documentary, natural style in photography and he was so easy going and quirky. He offered a package where he came from bridal preparations in the morning and stayed into the evening to get the evening reception in full swing (usually photographers leave after the first dance unless you pay for additional time). He also offered a second photographer to get even more angles and photos of the day and this is again something I was so keen to do!
Who did your hair and make up?
Viola Your Vision Your Day did our hair and makeup. They are sisters – Toria and Nicola and were so much fun to get ready with and were really well priced for such incredible service!
Where did you get married?
We got married at Curradine Barns, Shrawley. This was only the second venue we had seen in person but it had such a lovely, calm, friendly feel to it. We loved the rustic barn theme and feel it matches our personalities really well. The package was perfect for us too as catering was all included and you had an allocated wedding planner so was nice and simple!
Who were your shoes by?
Who supplied your wedding cake?
Helen Diviney – best part of the wedding prep was the cake tasting, something Elliot was actually keen to participate in haha!
Why did you choose Lisa Rose for your wedding gown?
The second we stepped foot in the door we felt really well looked after. I’ve never felt so pampered and special in all my life. With the job I do as a midwife I feel like I’m always caring for others. I then come home and take care of the house. With Elliot’s stressful, fast paced job I want to make sure when he’s not travelling around the world and is at home he’s looked after. So for me to be the centre of attention was so lovely!
Is there anything about your day which was particularly special or momentous that you would like to share?
My dad’s speech was so heartfelt and really funny too!
El loves cars so had his vintage mini take pride of place at the wedding!
I really enjoyed our first dance, Elliot was always really nervous about doing it and as we were dancing we got the giggles and couldn’t stop laughing, it was so much fun.
We had some friends travel across the world to come to our day which was so special – two friends from Australia and another friend from Spain.
The food was delicious!
Going off for our photoshoot was special too – so nice to spend some time just chatting whilst we had our photos taken.
After all the formalities were done and we could relax a little bit more we all had a few too many drinks in the evening and things went a little wild. You could tell it was a “young couples” wedding as the dance floor was full all night, drinks were flowing and there was some pretty interesting dance moves on the dance floor!
I just loved it all!
