I have actually been quite relaxed these last few months, wedding planners are an absolute god send! I’ve pretty much left them to it with regards to finalising entertainment details, décor, chair covers etc.
Despite feeling relaxed about everything, there have been a few things I’ve been giving my attention to…
First up bridesmaid dresses. I had a lovely Sunday out shopping with my adult maids for dresses, I know I owe my own bridal boutique but I wanted the ladies to feel special and us all to have a girlie shopping day so we ventured out! I couldn’t have asked for an easier pair of ladies to be honest! They both had similar ideas about what suited them style wise and both fell in love with the same gorgeous dress – bonus! Which, just so happened to look stunning on them both, in a completely different colour to the one I had chosen for my colour scheme, so I changed it!! In actual fact my wedding dress choice was influenced by the bridesmaid dresses too. Never underestimate how important your bridesmaids really are 😉
And of course there are a couple of men folk rather involved in the wedding too! So you’ll be happy to know we have also sorted something for them to wear! We decided to buy suits rather than hire. We hadn’t intended it to be this way but after Phil took a trip with his best man to look at sorting out the hire, it became clear the best option for us was to buy. Phil and I went out to choose what we wanted and let the guys know where and what to try on. Once we had their approval on size etc we ordered them all together.
The issue of flowers actually created a little more discussion than I had anticipated initially. The ones I wanted were proving a little difficult to get hold of in Lanzarote or indeed sent out to Lanzarote (flowers do not travel well, apparently!) so my amazing seamstress came to the rescue yet again. She is truly a wonderful woman with many a string to her bow! She has made everything from bouquets to button holes to table decorations, I can’t wait for you to see the beautiful job she’s done.
Truth be told, most of my wedding prep time this last few months has been spent shopping or on YouTube!! Let me elaborate… My summer wardrobe was pretty much non-existent bar a few maternity pieces I bought for the last time we went away. I have now fully restocked you’ll be pleased to hear, this is more than your everyday holiday afterall 😉 Also, having two little girls means plenty of beautiful little outfits for them accidentally (ok, on purpose, how can you resist!) dropped into a basket or three! There may well be the odd matching outfit in there too… I won’t be able to get away with it for too long so making the most of it while I can!
And ‘YouTube?’ you ask. Well I am having my hair done professionally for the wedding but have decided to do my own makeup. YouTube has had me glued to tutorial after tutorial, with me trying all sorts of different things and I think I have finally settled on a plan for what I am doing. I’ve listed here the products that have made it into my wedding day makeup bag (I won’t tell you how many others have been bought and discounted along the way!)
Foundation – Estee Lauder Double Wear.
I have also chosen an Estee Lauder primer, which is amazing for warmer weather – it doesn’t budge!
Concealer – MAC
Eyes – Urban Decay Naked 3
Cheek – Zoeva Pink Spectrum Palette
One thing I do still need to decide on is my fragrance for the day. This scent will be evoking memories from this day for years to come so I need to make sure it’s right… how do I choose?! What did you ladies go for?
