The back of your wedding gown will get a lot of exposure on your wedding day. As you walk down the aisle, mingling with guests and then later as you embark on your first dance with your new husband or wife. Whether you feel your back is a feature you want to show off or cover in favour of other highlights, there is certainly an incredible design that is perfect for you.
Let’s begin with truly backless wedding dresses. They can be round cut or v cut at the back but a truly backless gown will expose the majority of your back from your neckline to the base of your back.
A keyhole back can be a lovely option for brides who love the idea of a backless dress, but perhaps want a little more coverage or support that might be offered by a more structured bodice.
The designs are endless when it comes to detailing the back of a wedding gown. It may be embellishments from back jewellery, or the addition of simple spaghetti straps crossing over the back or wider, softer straps that can disguise parts that a bride may be a little conscious of.
An illusion back is another step closer to a closed back, whilst retaining some of the suggestiveness of an open backed design. Depending on your desire, you can opt for a very light illusion back where there is just a hint of design over a very sheer panel, or a more detailed illusion panel that will afford a little more coverage.
And last but by no means least, closed backs. Opting for a closed back does not mean that you can’t also have some wow factor on the reverse of your wedding dress! Lace designs can offer full coverage with incredible detail and impact. Or a more simple styled satin gown with button down feature from neck to hipline for example – results in a beautifully elegant finish.
