When planning a wedding, it is easy for costs to spiral out of control. Although it doesn’t always have to be the case. With a bit of creativity and ingenuity, you can keep costs down and add a real personal touch to your big day. One area in particular that this is most easily demonstrated is in the wedding favours. With the amount of inspiration and free printables available online now from incredible sources such as every bride’s favourite – Pinterest(!) means cheap to create can look incredibly luxe to the recipient.
1. Meant to Bee
Locally made honey is a wonderful wedding favour idea, and one which offers so much scope for packaging beautifully. To keep costs down, buy fewer large jars and decant into cute little test tubes with homemade tags such as these we found from The Beauty Dojo.
2. Let Love Grow
A lasting gift for your guests is something they can watch grow and nurture way past your wedding day. These DIY plantable paper hearts are so adorable and so cheap to produce. Packaging can be as simple or as elaborate as you like meaning cost really can be kept to a minimum without effecting the ‘aah’ factor! We found a fabulous tutorial for these on Evermine Weddings.
3. The Perfect Blend
Who doesn’t love a great British cup if tea?! With a box of string and tag tea bags and a fabulous free printable such as the above design from Botanical Paperworks, you can treat your guests to a personalised brew to end the evening or to wake up to with wonderful memories of your big day.

As adorable as these DIY coffee favours would be on their own, you could also do a 50/50 split with the tea bag favours above if you liked as they work perfectly together. This tutorial from Inspired by This does require the purchase of various elements to bring together the final result but we have to say, it is a stunning one!
5. Handmade with Love
If you’re up for a little more in depth crafting, then making soap for wedding favours could be so much fun! It’s much simpler than you might think but the overall effect is divine. This step by step tutorial from Boho Weddings is a great one to look at. With the choice of dried flowers and essential oils open to you, your wedding soap could be reminding your loved ones senses of your wedding day, for a good while past the celebration itself.
