Accessories your wedding dress with Lisa’s Bridalwear
Hi ladies how are you all this week? Congratulations to all you lovely Newlyweds! You certainly struck gold with the weather!
This week we are talking veils, tiaras and headpieces. Everything you need to complete the look.
Are you a traditional bride that’s going for the full veil ? A princess wearing a tiara? maybe a chic modern bride with a flattering headpiece? Whatever you are Lisa’s Bridalwear can help style you perfectly. We want all our brides to walk away with a smile on there face so offer a excellent service to ensure this.
First off let’s talk veil length. All our veils come in several lengths and we have many to choose from. Maybe u like a sheer chapel length veil with sparkles scattered finely over, or maybe a 72” ballet lace edged veil. It will all depend on your gown to what length you decide. Here’s a quick go to guide on the traditional names for you incase your unsure on what I’m talking about. …..
BIRD CAGES: This is a veil that covers just your face to the bottom of your chin. These look amazing with the 40’s and 50’s style tea length gowns.
FLY AWAY: This is the shortest length veil this can also be called shoulder length and they tend not to be any longer than 20”
BLUSHER : Is what we call the sheerness of the veil that some brides opt to wear over their face. The more traditional bride would wear it over her face during the ceremony until the first kiss. Then the new husband or the person who walks them down the isle will pull it back from the face.
FINGERTIP LENGTH: Yes as u may have guessed this comes to your finger tips and is usually around the 36” length
BALLET LENGTH: This can sometimes be called waltz veil too. This is where it can finish between your knees and calf and is approximately 72”.
CHAPEL LENGTH: This is a full 108” veil that reaches the floor with a trail.
CATHEDRAL LENGTH: If you want a dramatic look for a big church wedding, this is a must. The 120” length veil trails behind you past the end of your dress.
So that’s your brief introduction to lengths. You also need to consider are you going to wear a single tier or a double tier with your wedding dress? This is quite self explanatory. The single tier has only one layer where as the double has two with the option to cover your face.
Now if you have a wedding dress that is quite detailed and Blingy you may want to go for a simpler veil, maybe a nice long sheer chapel length. This stunning Joyce Jackson Veil we stock would be amazing. We have it as a sample in 108”. It’s so sheer it just glistens the sparkles over the back of your dress.
For the plainer subtle dress you can really have fun and bling yourself up. Look at this example we have here. You could go for a elegant strapless fishtale and piece it with this lace and pearl encrusted veil. This would look stunning.
Now your veil needs to be worked a round the hairstyle you are going for. So if you are wearing quite a heavy full length veil it may be best to wear a updo that can support the weight. If your hair is down you can wear a lighter shorter veil maybe. I would recommend taking your veil for your hair trial so you can decide where it will be placed.
Believe it or not face shaps suit certain veil types too. If you have more of a round face try and go for a longer length that has volume at the top this will lengthen your face. This would also apply to people with more of a square face but maybe adding cascades to the veil will work slightly better.
Now Ladies who have oval shaped faces can go for any type really but should avoid short narrow veils as to maintain your facial proportions.
Just like face shape body shape can also be considered with your veil. If you’re a more voluptuous bride stick to a one tier as this will not add any width to you.
For our pear shaped brides you would suit a shorter veil to add volume to your bust, shoulders and waist. Where as apple shaped brides would be suited to longer lengths to make you appear taller than you are.
Now I understand not all will want veils so you could maybe decorate your head with a headpiece. This can be in the form of tiaras which can be big or small or a band with detail to the side. Or even a pearl or sparkly encrusted slide. Some brides even opt for both. As stockists of Blossom we have cabinets with plenty to choose from. Here is a small collection for you to see.
