Which Wedding Dress is Right for you?
Hey beauties, how are we all? I for one am certainly feeling good. The suns out, it’s a summertime and its weddings galore here at Lisa’s Bridalwear!. And when there’s a wedding there’s always a wedding dress!!!
Not that I’m at all biased but isn’t buying your gown top of the list???
Do you know what style you want to go for? Are you looking for the ultimate princess gown, relaxed chiffon Grecian style or maybe a sleek fishtail?!!! With so many choices it can be hard to decide. What I will say, is there tends to be a trend for certain body types, however this is not a rule! As long as you look and feel good in your own eyes nothing else matters. At Lisa’s Bridalwear we have a great selection for you to choose from. The old chapel is in trend with the most up to date collections.
Just to give you a bit of insight, help here is some information on what styles emphasise your best assets.
Are you a lady with an Hourglass figure!! By this I mean your bust and hips are of the same width but you have a defined waist. Roughly 10” smaller. This figure is one that can pretty much pull off all dress types. (Lucky girl)
Celebs such as Kelly Brook and Marilyn Monroe are famously known for their hourglass figure.
If this is your shape you could go for a mermaid style, like the gorgeous Kim Kardashian wore at her wedding recently. She is very proud to show off her curves, and you should be too. A figure envied by millions all over the world. Kim is great at making the most of her her tiny waste and fuller hips often wearing tightly fitted skirts. The mermaid style defines your waist perfectly and shows off your best asset. Corseted gowns would also be very flattering for you, as would A-Line dropped waist gowns. You want to show the best of what you have. Here’s a few ideas for you….

Now for the Triangle shaped figures, you tend to be slightly broader on top with wider shoulders. The best way to avoid drawing attention too this would be to take advantage of sleeves or wide straps. Also, a plunging V neckline can be great. Having a gown with detail to the lower part of the dress will also cause distraction from your shoulders. I would also recommend a fuller skirt. Maybe something along the lines of these styles.
Woman who have a smaller top half and wider hip and thigh area are what we describe as pear shaped. Princess gowns with a full skirt are a great look for pear shaped figures, also having a sweetheart neckline will draw more attention to your bust rather than your hip area.
Ladies who are full breasted with more of a tummy and rounder bum and hips would be described as apple shaped. For you beautiful voluptuous ladies I would maybe advise an A-Line gown or an Empire waist gown. Having a corseted back can hold things in place more too. If you are panicking about keeping your bust inside your gown, have straps. Wider straps will keep everything well supported.
Petite brides who worry about looking even smaller by being swallowed up in a dress are suited better to slim A-Line gowns. Something simple would be best. A full princess gown can look like your fighting to get out where as an empire line gown will make you appear to have a longer frame. Maybe add a Blingy belt to emphasise this cut more. I would also recommend an Empire gown to ladies who may be pregnant. The style will enhance your bust while flow gently over your tummy.

Slim brides that have a smaller bust with more of a rectangular shape like the gorgeous Nicole Kidman suit more slim fitted gowns with a high neckline. A soft mermaid gown that is fitted all the way down with a slight kick at the bottom would look amazing on you.
Perhaps something like this gorgeous Enzoani Gown we have ……
And finally for all our tall ladies out there you can wear almost any style of gown, however, I would advise to stay clear of Empire lines. This can make you look even taller. A fishtale with a full skirt will even out your height, or even a fit and flare style like the one pictured. Or maybe a full princess gown, this will take the eye from your height to the fullness of your skirt.
