We love a good inspirational post so thought it was about high time we dazzled you with another! This week we have been immersing ourselves in all things ‘vintage wedding’ and have some stunning ideas to share with you if you were thinking of a vintage theme for your upcoming wedding.
First off, ‘vintage’ is not cemented in any one era or style. So whether you want something timeless and elegant, extreme art deco or roaring 20’s styled… you can pick and choose from a whole host of vintage wedding ideas and simply style them as is appropriate for your day.
For our inspirational post today, we have focussed on timeless and elegant. Encompassing the romance from times gone by and elements which will leave you with an album of wedding photographs that will age as beautifully as a fine wine.
First up, we wanted to share with you some gorgeous ideas for your wedding stationery. As with anything that has the word ‘wedding’ attached to it, there is an incredible range of price points and you can sink your entire budget into just one element of the wedding if you’re not careful! Here we have some ideas that may cost a little more, such as the laser cut invites, as well as options for a much cheaper DIY option – source a personalised wax stamp then print out your own invites onto nice paper stock, using an elegant font and seal them with a vintage kiss…
I know many a man who may run a mile at the thought of a vintage themed wedding – thinking he will have to wear a terribly fitting suit or some kind of hat he won’t suit! But fear not gorgeous grooms. We have some spectacularly sexy ideas that will give a nod to times gone by whilst channeling your inner Cillian Murphy à la Peaky Blinders… Think pocket watches, braces and three piece suits.
Think luxurious lace, beautiful beadwork, elegant lines and couture cuts. We have some spectacular wedding dresses here at Lisa Rose Bridal in Solihull, that would be perfect for a vintage styled wedding …
We came across some absolutely stunning bridal shoes when looking for vintage wedding inspiration. From the top end of the budget scale Emmy bridal shoes, to some stunning Rachel Simpson designs…
Bridal Hair Accessories
Hair chains are just perfect for vintage styled weddings and can look so striking. However, if that’s not your style or doesn’t fit with your ‘do’, why not look at statement hair pieces or a birdcage veil.
Lastly, there a thousand different ways to style your vintage wedding and of course it will need to be sympathetic to your venue choice. However, these beautiful ideas we’ve come across, we think could work as well in a rustic style barn, as in a stunning stately home.
Flowers can be arranged in mismatched teacups, tea pots or dainty old glassware that could be procured from relatives or friends for that personal touch with the added help of a charity shop if quantity is an issue! Old suitcases are also divine for a vintage wedding. Use them to display flowers, collect cards/gifts, mount a table plan – the options are endless.
Photo frames are also a really versatile way to display a whole host of things – table plans, table numbers; and we love the idea of displaying old wedding photographs from key members of family or as a way to have those there who can’t attend physically.
No vintage wedding would be complete without a lacy garter now would it 😉 Hope we’ve ignited some sparks of inspiration for your upcoming nuptials, we have plenty more on our Pinterest boards so be sure to check those out too!
